Ask me where I’m going, Ask me what is my purpose
At Thrivemind Village, we had the honour and enjoyment of hosting a gathering to listen to the song and stories of this marvel in craftivism, a coat “made up of pieces of blanket into which people have worked their griefs, remembrances, prayers and hopes for the place they call home, in the face of climate breakdown”. The coat was exhibited in the Thrivemind Village space so local people could get up close to the detail of the patches. We drank tea and ate soup and then, atop our stage, Barbara brought the magic of the coat to life through the stories of her travels, the people she has invited to wear the coat along the way and the transformative unifying qualities of art, song, courage and of course, HOPE which become evermore vital as we stride towards the landscape of uncertainty, that of climate disaster.
The Coat of Hopes is being walked across Britain and has now been worn and walked over 1000 miles. To learn the history of The Coat of Hopes, as well as follow the journey and even walk with the coat on the pilgrimage, visit the website: www.coatofhopes.uk
