CURRENTLY, OUR IRON GATE HUB IS CLOSED FOR ESSENTIAL BUILDING WORKS UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE - BUT YOU CAN FIND US “POPPING UP” AT REGULAR EVENTS ACROSS THE CITY AND SHIRE… IN THE WILD!
WE BELIEVE IT TAKES A VILLAGE.
Thrivemind Village started as an empty shop... Now, thanks to our fantastic volunteer collective, it’s a thriving, colourful, community hub; with a community fridge, pop-up vegan kitchen, an ethical shop stocked with the wares of local artists and global makers as well as our changemaker bookshop, a DIY hot drink station and a permanent space for children to play and parents to relax.
SUPPORT OUR MISSION
Thrivemind Village is a volunteer-led non-profit community hub that provides space, resources and services to help communities lead healthy, just and regenerative lives.
BYE FOR NOW
So we gotta close for a month
and move out all our stuff,
relocate our clients
and say goodbye to our hub.
Find a way to keep feeding
our community with our fridge.
we say: ‘We know what it takes to thrive’
'Together.'
that’s it.
Volunteers, they steer this village,
collect the keys, unload the bays,
share their fears, ideas and visions
for solutions we co-create.
So as our logo lit up the sky.
We popped the kettle on and kept packing,
polled our people’s availability
and leant into the power of asking.
Neighbours gave us glimmers of hope
that shone through the cracks of this crisis.
and Strangers offered us more than we asked
knowing no guarantee we survive this
Though we believe in the power of people
pulling together to better achieve.
Weaving the worlds we want together
whilst fighting for our dreams.
When we say Share the Harvest,
it’s solidarity we’re celebrating.
So to all of you caring for Derby,
thanks for the difference that you’re making!
WHAT IS THRIVEMIND VILLAGE?
Sharing the Harvest is a six-month documentary following Thrivemind Village CIC, a volunteer-led community hub in Derby, as we launched a community fridge, built relationships with local growers, rescued surplus organic food, and worked towards something bigger.
In our first year, we redistributed over six tonnes of food, feeding the, community, and exploring what a more regenerative local food system might look like. The film captures the journey from city centre hub to allotments, and the unexpected week our work was rewarded with a micro-farm.
This is a story about doing things differently, about the power of vision, of people and what's possible when you work together!

We’re growing fresh food for the community — and we’re looking for people to grow it with us.
No experience needed. Just come along, get involved, and be part of something meaningful!
TMV IS A VIBRANT, VOLUNTEER-LED COMMUNITY HUB, PROVIDING OPPORTUNITIES FOR PEOPLE TO MAKE POSITIVE CHANGE IN DERBY.
Thanks to the inspiring support of our volunteers, partners and growing community we have been awarded £10,000 by Seven Trent Water to build on the successes of our community kitchen and local food work!
We believe that the cost-of-living crisis, health crisis & nature crisis can all be addressed by doing food differently - locally, ethically, equitably, for all.
Back in 2023 you told us you wanted TMV to build a vegan community kitchen which we crowdfunded £5,500 to renovate and then launch last August.
Thanks to our trained pop-up volunteer chefs we've been serving healthy low-cost & free vegan meals every week using locally grown produce donated and bought from our awesome Derby based partners.
Then in December we became members of the Community Fridge initiative which aims to reduce food waste and food insecurity by coordinating surplus food to those that need it for free.
We also hosted free seed swaps and giveaways as well stocking organic Vital Seeds in our new eco-shop.
SO WHAT NEXT?
With Seven Trent Waters support we're excited this spring to launch NOURISH & FLOURISH which will kick start and sustain these brilliant initiatives…
Community Fridge launch
Low-cost & free, healthy vegan meals made with locally grown produce.
Permaculture cafe
Organic seed swap & sow days
Workshops (vegan nutrition, fermentation, growing & more)
Community recipe & food activism book
Volunteer training, trips, opportunities, discounts & more…
If you are passionate about the above and would like to volunteer with us, then please get in touch via our volunteer sign up form, where you can also read testimonials from our volunteers about their experiences at Thrivemind Village.A huge thanks to our incredible partners who we'll be spotlighting and promoting over the weeks ahead - Plot to Plate , Derbyshire Community Supported Agriculture CIC Godfreys Acre, The Fig Derby , Baby People , Martins fruits , Trinity Farm Organic Home Delivery , Woodgrow Horticulture Ltd, Derby City Council & Derbyshire Off-Grid.And of course heartfelt thanks to the Community Fund Team at Severn Trent.
ROOM HIRE AT TMV

POP-UP
COMMUNITY CHEFS!
Every month on a Saturday lunch time, a pop-up Community Chef will cook a meal in the TMV kitchen to feed the masses with exciting, nutritious vegan menus! Is this something you would love to do?
This is an opportunity for those who love to feed lots of people, those who are looking to test out their awesome vegan culinary skills and new menus and those who really appreciate working with local, fresh seasonal ingredients to create something healthy and delicious!
If you’re interested in flexing some vegan brilliance, then we want to hear from you!
In the meantime, come and get some lunch on Saturdays and see how the space feels.
