WHY DO YOU VOLUNTEER AT TMV?

  • Being part of Thrivemind Village has been kinda life changing for me. As a single mother experiencing loneliness and isolation, I was looking for ways to connect with the community. TMV enables me to meet different people, learn new things, volunteer to support projects that I’m passionate about and helps me focus on being a more positive & healthy person.

  • Thrivemind’s work as a third space, vegan kitchen and shop that stocks ethical items and local crafters’ pieces is so important and aligns with my values of caring for the earth and the people who live here. Spending my time volunteering feels like a real treat. The space and the other changemakers feel so welcoming and accepting and I love being able to help offer the same to all visitors.

    MADDIE

  • I think we’re all yearning for, looking for, our port in the storm. To me, Thrivemind Village feels like that port. Somewhere warm, nourishing, welcoming and safe where you can come and feel joy, meet others, meet your fears, and know you’re not alone. These community spaces and collectives are going to be crucial as we move more fully into the different collapses and crises of our times.

    SHIMRIT

  • What I love about this project is that it addresses issues in a progressive way… it provides people with a safe space where they can be nourished, not only nutritionally but psychologically and emotionally and through this process learn to nourish themselves and others, a place where they can heal and grow together. I see it as a beacon of light bringing people home to themselves.

    ELAINE

  • I enjoy cooking and sharing food with others feeds my soul. I also want to learn how to cook different healthy, balanced, vegan & whole food meals. I believe Food is a way of connecting & sharing, We all have stories & emotions connected to food and people coming together to share food offers me the opportunity to share in these stories & grow connections with others.

    SABINE

  • Thrivemind Village is important to Derby citizens. As mutual support in our communities declines it gives hope and support to those who miss it. Sharing and caring is in short supply in society today and is needed now more than ever. I have discovered new friends, learned new perspectives and been inspired to grow food at home. Thrivemind Village is fabulous.

    LIZ D

  • I like that the whole project is community run, promotes healthy veganism, encourages like-minded individuals to come together to support each other and the wider community. It's ethical and discourages over-consumption. I enjoy volunteering as I like to give back to my local community in this lovely, ethically run project.

    MANDY

  • Personally, I enjoy cooking meals but the Thrivemind kitchen is more than just a place to cook, it’s a safe space for learning and creating friendships. I feel privileged to be contributing something positive to our community.

    SKY

  • I have been volunteering at TMV in various projects almost a year. I like to help people, I like to be part of a team, who tries to improve the wellbeing of the community through innovative and creative approaches. It is also always fun to make new friends, to learn new things and to experience new emotions among a diverse and multicultural environment.

    SUSANNA

  • Thrivemind Village gave me that push to truly understand the world around me, through literature, art, creativity, and passion. Projects like these give the city soul, especially since Derby city has been having it's character chopped away for decades. And the kind of soul Thrivemind gave me was political education, activism, and tangible ways of revolutionising my life and how I act in it.

    CHENGO

  • I greatly appreciate and love the sense of inclusion and community at TMV. I love being part of a group of passionate individuals who come together through their commitment to fostering positive outcomes for others.

    NICOLE

  • I believe in this community that is Thrivemind Village. I chose to volunteer here because it encompasses everything that I believe in and want for a better future.

    RACHEL

  • TMV’s care and compassion for volunteer’s health and wellbeing is more than anything I have experienced before. I am proud that TMV celebrates and values the unique contribution that each individual brings to any project, promoting dignity, equality, solidarity and the power of diversity as we work together to overcome the challenges we face.

    JADE

  • I love Thrivemind Village and started volunteering for them as soon as the project launched. It is really important to have a sense of community and to have people to support you when you're struggling mentally and financially. Thrivemind Village is providing affordable and free healthy meals and I feel that's really important, because you can't really get anything healthy in the Derby city centre!

    EVA

  • I volunteer at Thrivemind Village because I believe everyone should have access to healthy, sustainable food. It’s amazing to be part of something that brings the community together and creates lasting change.

    ALESH

It’s important to find out how we’re doing, and if our changemaker collective is satisfied with the progress our organisation is making, that as people we feel aligned to the actions driven by the values we share and that we can contribute to shaping the project together.
So we took a detailed survey in 2023 which is downloadable here.
