A Magical Book Sale
HUGE thanks to everyone that donated and bought books for our 2nd hand book sale on Saturday. It was a roaring success and we couldn't be more grateful for everyone's kind contributions. We had books, art, cakes, stories, plants, brilliant people, poppy's for peace, coffee and lots and lots of kindness.
TMV changemakers pulled together to run a beautifully smooth event that was a real joy for all of us to be part of. We couldn't have done it without the huge numbers of books generously donated as well as the collective effort leading up to it. We raised £723 which brought us much closer to our £5k stretch target to fund our community kitchen, but later we sailed through that target too!

But why a community kitchen?
Isolation for various demographics is a tragic problem in the UK. People quietly go through the motions of life, unwitnessed and deeply lonely. Sometimes it feels like we need permission to gather in ways which feel meaningful.
Cooking and eating together is one of those innately human ways to connect, which comes as no surprise as our ancestors were busy with this wholesome ritual daily!
But we have global systemic oppression pushing the many into time-starvation, isolation and poverty. So stubbornly caring for each other, creating spaces to gather and nourishing each other with healthy food and good company is a radical act of community love.
